Your leisure time is hard earned and well
deserved: a time to make plans with family
and friends and an opportunity to create
memories that will last a life time. As
soon as you start thinking about a holiday,
the questions begin and range from who
to invite? When to go? Where to stay?
How do I begin? Here is a helpful starting
point....
• Put your group together. Make a wish list
of family and friends, then get in touch.
Let them know how wonderful this vacation
will be. Here's a tip: whether you're
bringing together friends from across
the country or family members across the
generations, you can get everyone excited
by planning ahead. The helpful links on
our web site will provide more information
about the area, points of interest and
exciting events.
• Plan ahead for your group dynamics. If
you have children in your group, explore
activities and destinations that would
intrigue and entertain them ... especially
on a rainy day. Determine what activities
would best suit your group such as a round
of golf or an afternoon at the spa. If
you want to keep your additional costs
to a minimum, contact the local Chamber
of Commerce, Friends of the Trent or Happy
Days Houseboats to explore low cost or
no cost activities and attractions.
• Always plan for safety. The Canadian Coast
Guard will send you an information booklet
on water and boating safety so that you
can familiarize yourself prior to your
arrival. Prepare and pack a first aid
kit that includes such items as insect
repellent, after bite, sunscreen and after
sun. Remember to pack infant and child
life jackets if traveling with children.
Familiarize yourself with any information
that we send your way as it is a reflection
of our experience.
• Decide
the best time for everyone. Spring, summer
or fall is a great time to go houseboating
on the Trent Severn Waterway. Enjoy fishing
opening in the spring or the changing
colours in the fall...both seasons offer
lower rates. Schedule your trip to include
an anniversary, honeymoon, birthday or
reunion. Whatever the season and whatever
the reason, there is lots to see and do. |
